About the Breeder

Lisa Rhyner, CGC Evaluator

I was raised on a farm in Genesee, Wisconsin where my parents worked and taught us to take care of any animal we wanted. My mom was a 4H leader and we had to be responsible for that animal. That started my love of riding horses and showing animals in the ring and being strong, confident and independent.

I started showing horses at the age of 10, then training horses, as well as dogs, in my early 20’s. I expanded my business to include breeding soon after that.

Sadly, at the age of 23, I lost my first dog. Many people can relate to this experience. After enough time had passed, I realized that the best part of that experience with my first dog was the training. My family encouraged me, saying that I had a gift. And I always wanted to train a working dog, so I took my Doberman puppy, Ajax, to the humane society for puppy socialization and obedience class. It was there, that I met a woman named Pat.

Pat walked up to me one day during class, and said, "Excuse me, do you show dogs?"

From the show ring and living in Wisconsin I moved to Colorado to begin a new life, where I continued my passion of teaching and training and breeding.

In 2014 I started looking at new working breeds of dogs that could handle the weather of Colorado while working farms, horses, protection, security, police work, search and rescue, and are known for their agility, obedience, high energy, alertness, intelligence, and need for a purposeful task.

This led me to breeding the Standard Poodles and Giant Schnauzers in 2016.

Owning a Giant Schnauzer is not just a privilege; it’s a responsibility.
My goals are to breed a well rounded dog, and to pair the dog with the correct owner.

In 2023 I had an oopsy-daisy breeding of a Giant Schnauzer / Standard Poodle. This turned out to be the best cross ever! Both breeds have hair not fur, unlike all the other doodles out there. And these puppies had amazing, well rounded temperaments, bone and confirmation.

Out of 12 puppies, 4 have become service dogs. All of our vets, including CSU reproductive department, and my poodle breeder friends have said if anyone is going to breed a great dog, it will be Lisa!

HEALTH TESTED
All of our adult dogs are fully DNA and health tested. Hips, elbows, heart, eyes.
